Plaka and the city centre of Athens (the old city)

    This tour takes you to the heart of the administration and commercial centre of Athens and gives you the opportunity of seeing all of Athens' "city" in a single day. The districts covered are: syntagma square (the parliament) psirri, plaka, gazi, thisseion, the old trading centre and the central market. See the changing of the guards,the national garden, the residence of the prime minister, of the president of the Hellenic republic, the very old olympic stadium/panathenaic stadium, the arch of Hadrian, the Russian church,the stadiou and panepistimiou streets (with the national library, the university, the academy of sciences and arts,the residence  of Heinrich Schliemann,the old parliament).

    Visit some of Plaka's very intersting museums, the first university, the library of the roman emperor Hadrian, some immigrants' districts, the first gaz factory (now a cultural centre), the central market, important neoclassical buildings etc..). A short stop for coffee or food is also possible(not to mention needed)!!In the evening you can choose if you like, to take the cable car and be on the top of the highest hill of Athens, Lykavittos.

    This tour is a combination of use of public means of transportation and a lot of walking or a -do it as the greeks do-driving city tour, but as always with a lot of explanations-about what we see- involved
