The Hague is the third largest city in the Netherlands with over one million inhabitants, and while not the capital it is the seat of Dutch parliament and the Supreme Court. The Hague is also one of the world’s major hosts for the United Nations and the International Court of Justice. Additionally, the Queen of the Netherlands, Queen Beatrix, makes her home in Huis ten Bosch in the Hague and works in the city’s Noordeinde Palace.
The Hague is also a popular beach resort destination, with two famous resorts located there on the shores of the North Sea. The Scheveningen beach sees over 10 million international visitors annually.
Notabale landmarks include a uniquely designed towering skyscraper called Het Strijkijzer (The Iron), the Hoftoren, the Peace Palace and the International Criminal Court. Binnenhof and the Knight’s Hall where parliament offices are located are other interesting places to visit.

(Member Since 2012) Languages: Dutch, English, German, SpanishBorn in 1954, I am a story teller by nature. Trained to be a teacher in physical education, my life has been always full of surprises. After traveling throughout the world I worked and lived in the US, France and Spain for several years. Settling down for me was going back to the city where I was born and raised, wonderful Den Haag. City of Peace and Justice (being the second United Nation city right after New York) we have so many interesting issues to share.
