Information about Zeebrugge
Zeebrugge is a village on the North Sea coast of Belgium and a subdivision of Bruges. Its name meaning “Bruges by the Sea,” this lovely seaside resort is also one of the busiest international seaports in the world for cargo, cruise ships and passenger ferries to the United Kingdom.
The pleasant year-round weather and clear blue waters attract many sun-seekers to its pristine beaches and marina. The port area is known for fantastic hotels and charming bistros, and just a short walk further inland you come to the beautiful historic center of the village and the Church of Zeebrugge, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Any port-of-call in Zeebrugge should include a relaxing canal boat tour through the serpentine waterways of nearby Bruges for idyllic views of charming medieval stone bridges and grand architecture. Visitors also enjoy walking tours past the Cloth Hall, The Belfry, and St. Bavo’s Cathedral.
