 For the first time Mostar was mentioned in written documents in 1452. Among all explanations of Mostar-s name origin these two are the most interesting: Mostar was named after bridge keepers (mostari) or after two towers which were called ''mostare''. The Sloping Bridge – One of the oldest preserved monuments of Turkish rule period is The Sloping Bridge. It was built before 1558 and according to some narrations this small bridge was a prototype for the building of the Old Bridge.
The Old Bridge – It was constructed in 1566 by Hajrudin, architect on the Sultan Solaiman’s court. Arch of the bridge has a span of 28,70 m, it’s altitude is 21 m from the heights of the summer water level.
 Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque
 Some 100 m northerly from the Old Bridge is Koski Mehmed - Pasha Mosque. It was built in 1617.

 Orthodox Church
Old Orthodox Church was built in 1834, with permission of great Kara Mahmud Pasha in Mostar. In 1873 the biggest and most beautiful Orthodox Church in BiH was built.

 Mostarska Synagogue
 Short after their settlement in Brankovac quarter, Mostar Jews have built synagogue. In 1952 g. synagogue was given to Puppet Theatre in Mostar.

 Franciscan Church 
 Franciscan’s Church was built in 1866. Near by the church is Franciscan’s library and archive with 536 scripts (374 are written in oriental languages).

 Kujundžiluk
 The Old Bazaar is placed beside the left river bank, northerly from the Old Bridge. It was named after ‘’kujundžije’’- craftsmen who struck the gold and whose workshops were numerous in this area in Turkish period. .

 Biscevic Corner
 Turkish house – One of the most beautiful preserved residential structures from the Turkish period. It was built in 1635 g.


Clock Tower
It is located in Konak Street by the new Orthodox Church. There is no reliable date about its origin and only the name of the donor (Kaduna Fatima) is known.
