Information about Varna
Varna is a large, seaside resort city on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Varna is often referred to as the “Summer Capital” of Bulgaria in reference to its thriving summer tourism. It is a major seaport and headquarters for the Bulgarian Navy.
Varna is surrounded by lush woodlands, vineyards and orchards, but the waterfront area is almost entirely beaches and parkland. Shipping facilities are further inland on the lakes and rivers. Hot, sunny summers extend into mild autumns providing a lengthy period of pleasant weather for visitors to the lovely city.
Visitors enjoy the Sea Garden and the Varna Aquarium, and other notable attractions include the Varna Archaeological Museum with the oldest known discovery of gold in the world. Varna also has an exciting nightlife and has earned the nickname “The Good-Times Capitol of Europe” for its many dance clubs. Soaking in hot mineral springs and bungee jumping are two more popular Varnan activities.
