As a Sommelier and City Tour Guide, I make sure people have the best experiences when it comes to wine and cultural tours in Chile.
I was born in Viña Del Mar; I live in Valparaiso (Chile's most charming and yet most bizarre city), though I grew up in Brooklyn, New York and Long Island, New York.
I moved to Valparaiso in 2006 and began doing tours.
Wine Tours came into my life that same year, and I began ocassionally doing winery tours when the wineries were full. This opened my mind to a new type of tourism, which I needed to study more. I entered the Sommelier School of Chile a few years later, leading me to work in one of Chile's best restaurants, presenting traditional wines. It was then when I decided to create Al Ramirez Wine Tours.
I saw that everyone only drank the average stuff (I don't want to say any names), and that Chile has hundreds of great wineries, with great products, that don't even get a chance to get themselves to a good restaurant's wine list, so, I thought the best way to promote Chile's wines were through unique tours, tailored to people's requests.
I have two main specialties which are the wine tours and historical tours, both being subjects that I can go on for days talking about. I've also had the pleasure of being the host to some extremely friendly, lovely people, who have been the perfect guests.

Al was a great guide. Actually sounds American since while born in Chile, he spent his school years in New York. Had a great city tour combining walking, funiculars and comfortable car with driver. Then on to two dry different wineries. All in all a great day.
