Longsheng county is situated in the north-eatern part of Guangxi and it is about 80 km away from Guilin. The Longji terrace was built during the reign of the Ming Dynasty approximately 500 years ago. Nowadays Ping An Rice Terrace and the lovely Jinkeng Rice terrace are the most popular tourist attractions in this area.

They represent unique beauty, appreciated by millions of tourists from all over the world each year. Moreover, these terraces are famous attraction even among the Chinese people. The Longji terrace was also called the Dragon’s Backbone due to its striking resemblance with a dragon’s scales, while the peak of the mountain range looks just like the actual backbone of a dragon. This place looks especially beautiful in the beginning of June.

There are different minority peoples living in the Longsheng county, such as Miao people, Zhyang people, and Dong people.  You can find there a number of peculiar rural folk-customs.
