Mutianyu Great Wall is the essence of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty, and enjoys the reputation of "The Great Wall, Mutianyu Unique". The Mutianyu Great Wall, with a total length of 5400 meters, is the longest Great Wall in China and one of the sixteen scenic spots in Beijing. In the first year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1368), the Mutianyu Great Wall was built under the supervision of General Xu Da, a subordinate of Zhu Yuanzhang, on the site of the Northern Qi Great Wall.
The Mutianyu Great Wall is a complete and rigorous military defense system constructed by buildings such as city walls, enemy towers, city gates, and beacon towers. Mutianyu has three Great Walls converging on a mountaintop at an altitude of 603 meters, forming the famous Beijing Knot. The walls and enemy towers of the Mutianyu Great Wall are strategically located along the mountain terrain, with many steep outer areas and relying solely on cliff edge buildings. The trend is rich in variation and rhythm.
The Imperial Palace, located at the center of Beijing's central axis, was a royal palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties, formerly known as the Forbidden City.
In ancient China, the planning concept of "unity of heaven and man" was emphasized, and the stars in the sky were used to correspond with the planning of the capital city, highlighting the legitimacy of the political power and the supremacy of imperial authority. The Heavenly Emperor resided in the Ziwei Palace, while the earthly emperor proclaimed himself as the "Heavenly Emperor" entrusted to heaven. His residence should symbolize the Ziwei Palace to correspond with the Heavenly Emperor. The Book of Later Han records that "Heaven has the Ziwei Palace, which is the dwelling place of God. The king establishes the palace as an elephant. Ziwei, Ziyuan, Zigong, etc. have become synonymous with imperial palaces. Due to the fact that the feudal imperial palace was a forbidden area in ancient times and could not be entered by ordinary people, it was called the "Purple Forbidden City". In the early Ming Dynasty, together with the Outer Forbidden City, they were collectively referred to as the "Imperial City". Around the middle and late Ming Dynasty, they were distinguished from the Outer Forbidden City, with the palace called the "Forbidden City" and the Outer Forbidden City referred to as the "Imperial City".
The Forbidden City is the largest and most well preserved wooden structure ancient architectural complex in the world
