Information about Hluboka nad Vltavou
The small Southern Bohemian village of Hluboka nad Vlatvou is a very well-known town in the Czech Republic, famous for its spectacular 13th century chateau modeled after the English Royal Tudor Castle in Windsor. Hluboka “Above the Vltava River” is also next to two important game preserves amongst the verdant Bohemian forests.
Visitors to the picturesque town are drawn firstly to the elaborately constructed Hluboka nad Vlatvou Chateau with its soaring towers and parapets. Tours through the spectacular castle allow glimpses of numerous ancient artifcats, including paintings, china, weaponry, carpets and the Netolice Ark.
Other notable landmarks of the town include the Bezdrev pond, one of the largest man-made ponds in the Czech Republic, as well as the Church of St. John Nepomucene in the center of the town. Another interesting spot is the Ohrada Hunting Chateau, a hunting museum and small zoo near the old Jewish Cemetery.
