Information about Tallinn
Located on the Gulf of Finland, the capital of Estonia is the oldest capital city in Northern Europe, with its Old Town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Conversely, it is also the largest city of Estonia, known as a global city and one of the top ten digital cities in the world.
Summers in Tallinn are pleasant and mild, while winters can be quite harsh. The cold does not deter the thousands of visitors to the yearly Tallinn Christmas Market, however. The medieval Old Town is enchanting in any season, replete with gothic towers like St. Olaf’s Church. Nearby Kadriorg, the former palace of Peter the Great offers an enjoyable excursion.
Other notable landmarks include St. Catherine’s Passage, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the House of the Brotherhood of Blackheads and the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds. Boat tours are also available along the Pirita River and the lakes of Tallinn.
