Florence is a very ancient city, it was founded by the Roman Empire in the 1st century BC, as a military colony. The Middle Ages were the golden age for its economy, in this period Dante Alighieri was borne and lived in Florence and still today we can visit his district. In the same years, the rich Florentine government decide to renew the city building many new monuments, such as the Cathedral, the bell tower and Palazzo della Signoria.

The Renaissance produced many brilliant artists, like Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, protected by the Medici family, the main Florentine family who ruled the city for centuries. They were important politicians, but they were also great patrons, in fact, they commissioned many masterpieces and monuments, they promoted art, literature and science. When they extinguished, they left their big and various collection to city of Florence. Thanks to them now Florence has a huge artistic heritage.

In this tour we visit the city center of Florence with its main monuments, very rich of history and art: the Duomo, the Baptistery, Giotto's Campanile, the district where Dante lived, the church of Orsanmichele, the lodge of the Piglet, the Piazza della Signoria and finally Ponte Vecchio.
