The Principality of Monaco is a tiny Mediterranean country located within the district of the French Riviera.  Although a sovereign state in its own right, Monaco’s borders are completely ensconced within the country of France except for its Mediterranean coastline. Warm, dry summers and very mild winters create an excellent climate for tourism in Monaco, which is one of the country’s main economic resources.

The pleasant climate and gorgeous seashores offer a marvelous location for the many wealthy visitors who treat Monaco as a playground of the rich and famous. Cruise ships bring foreign visitors to come and play in the casinos of Monte Carlo, and several well known luxurious casino resorts are located in Monte Carlo. Le Casino Café de Paris and the Sun Casino are two of the most famous casinos in the world in a country that has no income tax.

Historical and cultural attractions of Monaco include the famous Rock of old town Monaco-Ville, where the Prince’s Palace is located. The Monaco Cathedral is a beautiful Romanesque-Byzantine church bult in the 1800s, located in a square with many interesting sights and fine restaurants.

The Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium was established by Jacques Cousteau and is a world famous attraction, as are Monaco’s gorgeous Exotic Gardins (Jardin  Exotique). Don’t miss touring the Marlborough Fine Arts Gallery, and try to see the Prince’s amazing car collection.
