Highlands of Papua New Guinea Tour - “The Roof of PNG”*

Come up to where the air is cool, the mountains touch clouds, and culture is still alive every day. Not in a museum - in real villages, real gardens, real smiles.

*Where we take you:*  

*Goroka, Eastern Highlands* - Home base. Coffee country, bird of paradise, and the famous Goroka Show every September. Wake up to birds, not traffic. Walk through gardens with kaukau, corn, cabbage. Sit with local families, hear stories, learn bilas making. If you’re lucky, we’ll show you how to play kundu drum.

*Mt. Hagen, Western Highlands* - Market day chaos in the best way. Pigs, fresh produce, traders from 5 provinces. See wigmen with their traditional hair wigs, and if timing is right - the massive Mt. Hagen Show in August. Bigger, louder, prouder.

*In Between:* Mountain roads, misty valleys, blue skies. Stop at waterfalls, coffee plantations, and viewpoints where you can see ridge after ridge of highlands. No filters needed.

*What you’ll experience:*  

1. *Culture, not performance*: Visit villages where people still live the old way + new way together. Learn bilum weaving, sing with kids, share mumu food cooked in hot stones.

2. *Nature*: Cool mountain weather 18-24°C. Hike to lookouts, birdwatching for birds of paradise, walk through coffee + tea gardens. Stars at night with no city lights.

3. *Food*: Fresh from garden. Kaukau, taro, sweet corn, Highlands chicken mumu. Taste PNG coffee straight from the farm. 

4. *People*: Highlanders are direct, proud, and big-hearted. We’ll laugh, we’ll tease you, we’ll treat you like family. That’s our way.
