Bucharest and Medieval Transylvania 8 nights / 9 days PERIOD: group choice ITINERARY: Bucharest – Brasov – Sighisoara – Medias – Sibiu – Alba Iulia – Bucharest PROVIDED SERVICES: - 8 nights’ accommodation at 3*,4* hotels + HB meals including 1 festive traditional dinner: • 3 nights in Bucharest; • 2 nights in Brasov; • 1 night in Sighisoara; • 2 nights in Sibiu; - modern 3 stars transportation; - airport transfer; - tour guide OPTIONALLY: we can have lunch on the way (aprox. 15 E/pers) depending on the daily schedule

DAILY PROGRAM:

DAY 1: - picking up from the airport; - check-in at the hotel in Bucharest; - short walk in the city center; - dinner and accommodation;

DAY 2: - breakfast; -we will visit the Village Museum and the Palace of Parliament (the 2nd biggest administrative building in the world, after the Pentagon); - free time in the afternoon; - dinner and accommodation in Bucharest;

DAY 3: - breakfast; - departure to Brasov; - on the way we will visit: Peles Castle, the summer residence of the royal family, is one of Romania's most visited historic edifice, unique by its historical and artistic significance the Castle is one of the most important monuments of its kind in Europe; - short walk in the city center; - dinner and accommodation in Brasov;

DAY 4: - breakfast; - visit to the Bran Castle: (known as Dracula Castle) and the Rasnov Fortress (the Rasnov Fortress is an old village fortress, the best preserved of them all. It was erected in the 13th century by the local villagers to defend themselves from the Tatar invaders); - dinner and accommodation in Brasov;

DAY 5: - breakfast; -on the way to the medieval city of Sighisoara we will visit: the Saxon Fortress in Viscri (one of the most spectacular, the oldest and the best preserved fortified church in Transylvania, being included on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Through Mihai Eminescu Trust, Prince Charles himself got involved in renovation of the church and several houses in the village giving them back a bit of the initial shining. Not only the isolation of the village but also the absence of other occupations besides agriculture, had Two Germans who established here initiate the Sosete project at the end the the '90-s); - visit to the Sighisoara Fortress ( the city was founded by the German settlers. Vlad Dracula the 2nd stayed in this city for a period waiting for the best moment to take over the power in the Romanian Province. It seems that in this period (1431) was born his sun Vlad the Impaler (alias Dracula)); - dinner and accommodation in Sighisoara;

DAY 6: - breakfast; - on the way to Sibiu (the 2007 European Cultural Capital) we will visit: Biertan (it was one of the first settlements established by Saxons in Transylvania. The village is recorded in documents since 1283. For almost three centuries Biertan was the headquarters of the Saxon Episcopacy in Transylvania and therefore around the Biertan church was build one of the strongest fortresses in Transylvania. In 1993 the site was included on the UNESCO World Heritage list); Medias (old city center – Saint Margaret Church, The Buglers Tower – until 1969 it was one of the tallest buildings in the world and by its leaning the tower is the 6th in the world and the 3rd in Europe); - visit to the ASTRA Museum in Sibiu (the museum of Traditional Folkloric Techniques, the biggest outdoor museum in Europe) - free time in Sibiu city center; - dinner and accommodation in Sibiu;

DAY 7: breakfast; - trip to Alba Iulia (the first capital of the three Romanian provinces. In December 1918 in Alba Iulia the Union of Transylvania and Banat with the Kingdom of Romania had been proclaimed); – visit to the Fortress ( built in Vauban style with 7 bulwarks laid out as a star. It was build between 1716 and 1735 by Italian architect Giovanni Morando Visconti, being the most impressive building of its kind in the South East Europe in particular, due to the imposing gates); – dinner and accommodation in Sibiu;

DAY 8: - breakfast; -on the way to Bucharest we will visit Cozia Monastery which is set in one of the most picturesque of the Carpathian landscapes, the pride of Oltenia region. - dinner and accommodation in Bucharest.

DAY 9: breakfast; - transfer to the airport - end of our services.
