DAY 1: DAKAR
Arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel. Accomodation in Dakar.
DAY 2: DAKAR - KEUR FOAMED - THIES - TIVAOUANE - MBORO
After the breakfast departure for the Keur Moussa, originally a Muslim small village. There is here a monastery, inaugurated in 1963, located at 50 km of Dakar, on the north side of Dakar. These Benedictines monks are in very good neighbourhood with the surrounding populations by greating and managing a dispensary, currently served by five nuns “Maidservants of the Poors". They devote themselves mainly to the care of the women, old men and children. At the beginning, an elementary school has been opened where five African Masters currently teach nearly 150 children of the village of Keur Moussa and surrounding villages. If you visit this monastery one Sunday you will attend a liturgy where the mass is famous because accompanied of African musical instruments. On other days you will visit the beautiful fruit-garden property and also the cheese dairy. Buy some fruits before leaving!!! You will continue towards the city of Thies where you will have lunch. In afternoon you will visit a city call Tivaouane. This is a great religious place in Senegal. In fact it is the sanctuary of the Tidiane community of Senegal. After the visit of Tivaouane, you continue and arrive at Mboro. Dinner and accommodation at Mboro.
DAY 3: MBORO - KEBEMER - TOUBA - CHAITOU - KAOLACK
After the breakfast, departure for the small town of Kébémer of almost 16.000 inhabitants. It is this city where is born the current President from the Republic of Senegal: Maitre Abdoulaye Wade, a political man and strong African academic. Kébémer is a small town without much ambition for the moment. Shoes manufacture and joinery are the activities most present in the city. You will continue then towards Touba, another religious city, the sanctuary of the community of Mourides. This city hold each year an event called Magal, a kind of pilgrimage. During 2 days millions of people coming from all areas of Senegal and more and more from other parts of the world gather there to pray the founder of Mouridism. After the visit of Touba, you will continue towards Kaolack. On the way to Kaolack you will discover and visit a small village called Cheytou. In this village was born a famous Senegalese scientist: the Egyptologist Sheik Anta Diop. Arrival at Kaolack and lunch. In the afternoon you will visit this city on carriage. This visit will allow you to discover another religious community: The Community of Niassene. It is a large sanctuary of the Moslem Sufism with adepts in Senegal and in Other African countries. Return to your hotel dinner and accommodation.
DAY 4: KAOLACK- DJILOR - MBISSEL - JOAL FADIOUTH- MBODIENE
After the breakfast, departure for Ndangane passing by Ndiossmone. It is here where you will enter the kingdom of child of another famous son of Senegal: Léopold Sédar Senghor, first President of the Republic of Senegal. Small villages Sérères which saw growing this child: Djilas, DJilor, Simal and Ndangane. You will have lunch at Ndangane. After lunch, heading to joal you will discover a forest of palm trees: and you arrive in a small village called Mbissel. Mbissel is a high place of culture and knowledge of cosmogony Sérère Culture. A great historical figure lived there: Massa Waly Dione. A mystical king, who conferred to this small village a world historical importance. Your adventure in the kingdom of childhood of Senghor will continue with the visit of its family home Keur Diogoye and also the visit of the island of Fadiouth. In the afternoon, you will discover Ngazobil literally the Well Of Stones. Ngazobil t is a small village, hidden in middle of a savanna. Inside this savannas in front of the sea, there is the small seminar of Ngazobil. It is in this harbour of quietness where Senghor made the first years of school. Perhaps you will during your visit a man fully an historical figure of this village: Frere Francois. This religious person will then have a very big pleasure of explaining you one of his current passions: the box of the pharmacopeia. In fact Ngazobil is a very interesting ecological case today. Many species of trees and shrubs are only found there now. It is then a mine for the traditional pharmacopeia From Ngazobil, a small walking along the beach, you will join Mbodiene. You will have lunch and accommodation.
DAY 5: MBODIENE - POPENGUINE - MBODIENE
After the breakfast departure for Popenguine, a high place for Catholics of Senegal and bordering countries. Here, each year a pilgrimage for Holly Mary gathers thousands Catholics. In this small village was born a famous prelate: Cardinal Yacynthe Thiandoum, a great person and respected person in what we call here Dialogue Islamo Chretien. Senegal is a wonderful place where all religions are living in a very peaceful neighbourhood.
