Cheikh - Private Guide in Kedougou

Hi everyone,

I'm Cheikh, originally from the small village of Afia on top of the cliff near Kedougou town, South-East of Senegal. I've always had the passion to meet new people from different horizons, and a keen interest in exploring the rich cultural diversity of the numerous ethnicities living in my area. Each has very different music styles and even instruments, also different sets of beliefs which all help opening my eyes to different ways of admiring our world.

Now I help far away travellers to be in contact with other cultures, including mine (fula), and I enjoy learning from them as much as their reactions to different lifestyles. This is why I often bring travellers to my family as well, as I believe discovery is not only in the beautiful landscapes and art but also in the mundane everyday life. I have also been a guide for scientists studying Chimpanzees which led me to study ecology myself and train to identify, understand and protect wildlife in my region.

I often do trips to remote areas and appreciate the calm and communion with Nature that such places provide. I have two adorable baby girls and a big family always happy to help and welcome visitors in our area of South Senegal. Hope to see you soon, we'll have a great time of exchange, discoveries and fun!
