Walking along Nile Street in Khartoum will take you to the ‘confluence’ where the Blue and White Niles meet. Be very careful with your camera in Khartoum, you can be arrested for taking a picture of the confluence or anything else.
Museums in Khartoum include the Sudan National Museum which houses the largest and most important archaeological collection in Sudan. Egyptian temples are also displayed in the gardens surrounding the museum. The Sudan Ethnographic Museum explores cultures and traditions of the many ethnic groups what call Sudan home. Don’t plan on drinking alcohol in Khartoum as it is prohibited. There are a few places that offer ‘special tea’ but for the most part it’s not worth looking for.
