The Half Day Sapelo Island Tour on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays only begins at 8 a.m. at the red elevated Sapelo Island Visitors Center, 1866 Landing Rd.SE, Darien, GA 31305 USA. Your guide meets you there for a short tour of the Center's excellent time line museum of Sapelo Island's fascinating history. He'll be a tall gray haired man wearing a blue U.S. Coast Guard.

You will take the30 minute roundtrip ferry to Sapelo Island for $5 per person over 6 in cash only, exact change, including your guide, and rent a van on the Island for $50 paid to the owner on arrival plus $10 in cash or credit card for gas used, exact change, cash only.

You tour begins at the University of Georgia Marine Institute in the former R.J. Reynolds dairy and horse barn, including the unique Turkey Fountain, which begins the story of R.J. Reynolds four wives and four divorces! Then we drive to the historic R.J. Reynolds Mansion, bult in 1810 where R.J. "Dick" Reynolds lived with all of his four wives!

Next we drive to the scenic Sapelo Island lighthouse, built in 1820, where we tell stories of storms, war, and love. You can climb the Beacon Tower any time, and the Lighthouse on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

Then we visit the beautiful unspoiled Nanny Goat beach, where sea turtles next every summer and there are no hotels, motels, condos, or house to distract from the beautiful miles of beach backed by sand dunes with sea oats, to beachcomb, sun bath, wade, or swim if you like! 

Next we tour the Hog Hammock National Historic Area, home to a small community of Gullah-Geechee descendants of the Island's former plantation slaves, along with new vacation homes. After visiting the haunted cemetery, still in use, we return to the dock and take the ferry back to the mainland at noon.
