Customer's Opinions about guide from Krakow, Poland
Our guide was actually Tomasz (Thomas) rather than Krzyszstof. We liked Tomasz very much -- he was knowledgeable about the areas we visited and was very personable and friendly, and he spoke good English.
We toured the St. John Paul II Center in Krakow and the Kalwaria Zebrzydowska shrine. The St. John Paul II Center is quite large and contains a main area along with many small side chapels and a chapel below ground. It is decorated with large mosaics depicting scenes from the Bible, and also on display is the bloodstained cassock St. John Paul II was wearing during his assassination attempt. It's within walking distance of Lagiewnicki, the shrine of Divine Mercy, where St. Faustina's convent is located as well. Kalwaria is a 16th or 17th century shrine dedicated to the Passion of Christ ("Kalwaria" means "Calvary" in Polish), and it contains a miraculous image of Our Lady. It's beautiful inside and out, and stretched along the hill that it's situated are the stations of the cross. I think one thing that should be added to this tour is a trip to Wadowice, the birthplace of St. John Paul II, where the church he was baptized in is open to the public as well as his childhood home.
I cannot imagine a better guide than Christopher. He gives a weath of information without being pedantic, is well spoken in English and ... is a nice person. We arranged in advance for him to drive us from Krakow to Eastern Slovakia and he suggested three places on the way over the Tartras mountains (great choices and not a scary drive, no cliffs), and we prepaid half on Paypal. He is highly highly recommended!
Christopher was a guide for my granddaughter and I and he was most professional, knowledgeable and went above anything we expected. He was very flexible with our itinerary and he was a huge help in meeting our personal needs, ie translations, shopping and just being there for us at every aspect. He ended up being a "friend" and we would use his service again when traveling.
