Eugenia is an awesome guide. I have been a fairly active traveler and this was my first time hiring a guide because I only had a short time to see St. Petersburg and wanted to make the most of it. If not for Eugenia I would not have had nearly the enjoyable experience I did. She speaks excellent English and has a story or insight about nearly everything in sight. She was unavailable for the later part of the my trip and her associate Svetlana was equally knowledgeable and also spoke excellent English. Use Eugenia...you wont regret it.
I just returned from St Petersburg and enjoyed the wonderful services of your guide Svetlana. Andrew, the driver was courteous, fun and always helpful and he and Svetlana coordinated everything beautifully.
Svetlana was bright, articulate and was able to answer all of my questions and enrich the experience ten fold. I am thoroughly impressed by Eugenia and her tea and would not hesitate to recommned very, very highly.
Eugenia has been our guide on two different trips, and has been the glowing light of St. Petersburg. Trust her to make your trip personal, entertaining and meaningful. I only wish she could go with us everywhere we travel. Her knowledge will amaze you, and she will make sure you see Russia from all points of view...not just the "canned tour chatter"
We returned from a seven day trip to St. Petersburg last September. We booked the trip almost a year before to take advantage of airline miles. At the time, we researched guides through many sites, and contacted a number of guides by email. Based upon their responses, and also a follow-up call with Eugenia Kempinsky, we decided to have Eugenia as our guide.
We certainly made an excellent choice!
Eugenia arranged a seven day itinerary for us that took in all the normal sites, several unusual ones (the Buddhist Temple and the Mosque), as well as obtaining advance tickets and making special reservations for the two Treasure Rooms at the Hermitage and the Amber Workshop at Catherine’s Palace. She had an excellent driver for the two days we needed a driver (Vladimir). He also picked us up at the airport, and deposited us back on the return. The car was a late model Toyota, which he cleaned inside and out before picking us up.
What makes Eugenia an excellent guide is not only the fact that she is knowledgeable, but that she listens. She picked up quickly on the things that we were interested in, and adjusted the tour accordingly. She seemingly knows everything about all the sites and artwork, and provided very informative and entertaining stories of the czars and their families. She has licenses to all sites we visited requiring an entrance fee. Her English is perfect. She researched quite a bit for us. Since the Buddhist Temple and the Mosque are not usual destinations, she read up on them beforehand to provide explanations. We were interested in customized nested dolls, so she found us a quality place, that seemed relatively less expensive. She found out that we like honey, and took us to the farmers market where we bought four types of the best honey we ever tasted. She also made excellent dinner recommendations. For lunch, she joined us and picked very good fast-food type places.
On the whole, we wouldn’t have wanted to change a thing about the trip. It was made one of the best trips that we have taken largely because of Eugenia. We now regard her and her husband as friends.
Eugenia really likes helping people enjoy St. Petersburg. She loves her city, and that clearly shows. My wife and I give her our highest recommendation. If needed, she can arrange a visa through an agency.
Eugenia Kempinsky is with out a doubt the most knowledgeable, dependable, kind and friendliest guide we have ever had. She made our excursion to St. Petersburg a delightful experience. Her incredible knowledge of her beautiful city impressed us and one time we asked her some silly question and she didn't have an answer so she called her dad and got the information!. She went out of her way to insure that every detail of our visit to St. Petersburg would be taken care of. When you visit this beautiful city, Eugenia should be your guide. I promise you, she will enrich your visit and become a friend for life. The next time I take a trip to St. Petersburg, Eugenia Kempinsky will be my guide!
