SUGGESTED DEPARTURE TIME: 18:00 hrs. (6PM) DURATION: +/- 3 hrs. ON THIS TOUR: Meet your own private guide at your hotel (or any other pre-arranged location). Our drive brings us directly to the heart of historic YPRES. We stop on the market square to view the magnificent Cloth Hall. Ypres was completely destroyed during the Great War.
There’s time to have light dinner before walking over to the world famous Menin Gate, an impressive memorial to the missing erected and unveiled in 1927. Its large “Hall of Memory” contains the names of almost 55.000 missing soldiers! At 20:00 hours (every evening, 7/7), a ceremony takes place conducted by local members of the Fire Brigade and buglers sound “The Last Post”. We depart from Ypres immediately after the ceremony (+/- 20:20 hrs. (8:20 PM), drive back to your hotel where we say goodbye to our driver / guide.
