The Lesser Town is another popular tourist attraction in Prague.

Besides its common name it is also known as just Lesser, and the Little Quarter. It is situated around the foothills of Prague Castle not far from the Old Town. It is said that the Little Quarter was officially founded approximately in the 13th century, and it happens to be the oldest quarter in the whole Prague. Due to the fact that it is situated very close to the Prague Castle, it has become the home for numerous craftsmen and merchants, who dedicated their lives to the royal court service.

After some time the Prague aristocracy and noblemen move to this quarter and turned the Lesser into the collection of Prague’s most beautiful and sublime Renaissance and Baroque palaces.
