Egypt is known not only for its ancient wonders left by our ancestors thousands of years ago. There are much younger engineering wonders to behold in this lovely country. The Suez Canal is certainly one of such sites, and with this tour we’ll discover the unimaginable scale as well as the cultural and economic impact of its creation upon Egypt. 

We’ll start our journey from Cairo, and drive to our first destination - the city of Ismailia. This settlement is a fine example of urban development in the region caused by the construction of the Canal. It sits on the West Bank and was constructed in parallel with the digging of the great channel. The picturesque road through the desert that we’ll take to reach the city is certainly one of the most tranquil landscapes that any minimalist will adore.

Continuing our journey, we’ll visit several other cities along the Canal, which were constructed during the 19th and 20th century, including El Obour, El Rehab, El Sherouk and others.  While we’ll be visiting these cities, I will tell you the detailed story of the Suez Canal including the reasons why it was nationalized by the government during the 20th century.

Then we’ll continue to the bridge of Sinai Peninsula and stop right in the middle of it to enjoy the view of the large ships passing under it. We’ll also stop by some of the Israeli strongholds that were capturing during the war. On our way back to the capital we’ll take the ferry for another interesting perspective over the Canal.
