This tour is unique as we’ll visit an ancient attraction that has become surprisingly popular in the recent years, the famous Herodium. The place where King Herod built a huge palace and his personal tomb was hidden underneath the land for centuries, before being discovered by the famous archeologist Ehud Netzer more than a century ago.

However, only in the recent year tourists have “discovered” this place and Herodium became a popular tour destination for Israel visitors of all types. It makes me proud to be a part of the group of archeologists who have actually worked at this site, and discovered the tomb of Herod himself back in 2007. As a person who has spent here a lot of time and as your Israel private tour guide I will tell you everything I know about the history of the palace and the tomb, and show you the most interesting locations in this ancient site.

These include the spa complex, acropolis, water reservoirs and the tomb of the king. There are also possibilities to diversify this tour by having a walk to Jerusalem along the old tunnels or a lunch at a local restaurant.
