The Dead Sea is known for many reasons. And it’s historical value is one of them, since there are many peculiar sites along its western coast that represent a huge interest for archeologists and historicists. Our first destination will be Masada, which we’ll visit after stopping by the ancient city of Jericho and the site where the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are believed to have been located before their destruction.

Then we’ll ascend the Masada for a panoramic view over the Dead Sea and to explore the ruins of Herod’s palaces and other ancient structure this place is very rich with. If you’ll be in a mood for walking down with your private guide in Israel, we’ll descend from the mountain by the Serpent Path, which will take us to the Ein-Gedi oasis with its ancient synagogue and beautiful waterfalls.

We’ll also enter Qumran, the place where the much controversial Dead Sea scrolls were found, and discuss their importance for the Jewish and Christian traditions and history. It’s even more fascinating, since I took part in some of the excavations in this region and can tell you a lot of interesting things about the local artifacts. And, of course, if you wish to take a swim in the Dead Sea we can include it in our tour as well.
