Livorno is a Tuscan port city on the Tyrrhenian Sea with a population of approximately 160,000 inhabitants. The city is characterized by its neo-classical architecture, a network of bridges and canals, and spectacular sea views. The city is also known for its market and for its museums and cultural institutions. 

The Museo Muscagnano is devoted to the operatic composer, and the Terrazzo Muscagni, a beautiful walkway divided from the sea by only a handrail is also named for him. An important pilgrim destination is located in the nearby hills, the Sanctuary of Montenaro dedicated to Our Lady of Graces, the patron saint of Tuscany. Several important monuments in Livorno include the Monument to the Four Moors, and the old brick fortress, Fortezza Nuova. 

Visitors to Livorno also enjoy the Bagno Vittorio Beach, and its famous Acquario di Livorno (the Aquarium), as well as the Ludique Family Entertainment Center.
