Information about Milazzo
The third largest city in the province of Messina in Sicily is Milazzo. The city is situated at the base of a peninsula that juts into the Tyrrhenian Sea. The city continues to develop in its agriculture, commercial and industrial areas. Fishing activities are popular here.
Visit the Castle of Milazzo and you’ll see a castle surrounded by walls with round towers. It has a gothic portal dating from the 14th century. Nearby you can see the ruins of the palace of the grand jury and the old cathedral. At the Baroque Church of the Holy Crucifix built in 1629, you can see a wooden crucifix from the early 17th century. Other churches include the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Rock Church of St. Anthony of Padua and the Sanctuary of St. Francis of Paola.
The town of Milazzo is small and is mainly used as a transit point for the Aeolian Islands. Car rentals are available if you decide to venture further out. This sleepy town does have a beach and many small cheap restaurants. Many restaurants offer cocktails.
