Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi and Transfer to Buffalo Springs

Your journey begins with a warm welcome by the  team, who will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport. After a short briefing, we head north through scenic landscapes to Buffalo Springs National Reserve. Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive, where you might spot elephants, lions, and Grevy’s zebras. Relax in the evening at Samburu Sopa Lodge (or similar), your accommodation for the night.

Day 2: Explore Buffalo Springs

Spend the entire day exploring the beauty of Buffalo Springs with thrilling game drives. This reserve is famous for its stunning contrasts of springs, woodlands, and savannah, home to diverse wildlife like oryx, crocodiles, and unique bird species. Return to Samburu Sopa Lodge (or similar) for another restful evening surrounded by nature.

Day 3: Transfer to Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, a short drive takes you to Samburu National Reserve, where you’ll check into your accommodation. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive to see Samburu’s iconic “Special Five,” including the gerenuk and Somali ostrich. The unique arid terrain offers incredible photographic opportunities. Spend the night at Samburu Sopa Lodge (or similar).

Day 4: Full Day in Samburu

Enjoy a full day of adventure in Samburu, with morning and afternoon game drives. Take your time to spot leopards lounging in trees or elephants navigating the rugged landscape. Between game drives, relax at your lodge and take in the serene surroundings. Overnight at Samburu Sopa Lodge (or similar).

Day 5: Travel to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, we journey to Lake Nakuru National Park, passing through the dramatic Rift Valley. On arrival, head out for an afternoon game drive, where you’ll see flamingos, rhinos, and possibly lions lounging near the lake. Overnight at Lanet Matfam Resort (or similar), a comfortable retreat to recharge after the day’s adventure.

Day 6: Journey to Maasai Mara

Following breakfast, drive to the world-renowned Maasai Mara. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive, where you’ll begin your search for the Big Five and other wildlife. Experience the beauty of the Mara’s vast savannahs and end your day at Rhino Tourist Camp (or similar), your base for the next two nights.

Day 7: Maasai Mara and Return to Nairobi

Start your day with an optional sunrise hot air balloon safari ($450 per person) or a morning game drive to spot wildlife at their most active. After breakfast, we’ll begin the drive back to Nairobi, where the Jossec Safaris team will drop you at your hotel or the airport, bidding you farewell after an unforgettable adventure.
