There are more than 2,000 temples and pagodas in all.  A pagoda is a huge edifice with an artifact chamber inside.  Two types of temples are the solid temple (stupa-style) and hollow temple (gu-style).  The largest Buddhist temple is Dhammayangyi as it is extremely wide.   Others that are absolutely worth seeing are Minyeingon and Thatbyinnyu.  One of the most famous Buddhist temples is Ananda Temple.  It was constructed in 1105 AD and also referred to as the “Westminster Abbey of Burma.”  The incredible architecture that is constructed in Bagan is outstanding and gains admiration from visitors time and time again.  Here is found the “Rosetta Stone of Burma” containing inscriptions in four different languages.  The writings tell of Prince Rajakumar’s honorable acts towards his father and list in order the Bagan kings.
