Discover Oslo – A Guided Walk Through Norway’s Capital
Oslo is a magical place with a unique mix of modern Scandinavian life and deep historical roots. There’s so much to see and experience, and I’ll be delighted to walk alongside you to explore its highlights and hidden treasures.
I’ll meet you at your hotel, and from there we’ll begin our journey through the heart of the city. We'll visit Oslo’s iconic landmarks, including:
- The Royal Palace – residence of the Norwegian monarch, surrounded by beautiful gardens.
- City Hall – where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded, featuring impressive murals and artworks in the grand reception hall.
- Akershus Fortress and Castle – a medieval stronghold with panoramic views over the Oslofjord and fascinating wartime history.
- National Theater and National Museum – centers of Norwegian culture and art.
- Oslo Cathedral – a beautiful baroque-style church from the 17th century.
- Nobel Peace Center – explore exhibitions dedicated to peace efforts and prize winners.
- The Opera House – a modern architectural gem where you can walk on the roof for a spectacular view of the fjord.
- The Munch Museum – housing the world’s largest collection of works by Edvard Munch, including The Scream.
- The New Deichman Library – a cultural hub and architectural wonder in the Bjørvika district.
- Aker Brygge and Bjørvika – vibrant harbor areas filled with modern design, shops, restaurants, and a relaxed seaside atmosphere.
- Karl Johans Gate – the main pedestrian avenue lined with cafes, boutiques, and historic buildings.
Along the way, I’ll share stories about Oslo’s past and present, including daily life, Norwegian food culture, traditions, and our experience during World War II. I’ll also point out places where you can try traditional dishes such as rakfisk, klippfisk, or raspeballer, and enjoy a glass of aquavit if you wish.
Optional Add-Ons:
- Vigeland Sculpture Park – the world’s largest sculpture park made by a single artist, Gustav Vigeland. It’s home to over 200 bronze and granite sculptures that reflect the human experience.
- Holmenkollen Ski Jump – we can take the metro up to this iconic ski jump tower for breathtaking views over Oslo and insight into Norway’s winter sports heritage. (Extra time required)
This walking tour is flexible and can be customized based on your pace and interests. Whether you're here for history, art, architecture, or local flavor – I’ll make sure you leave with unforgettable memories of Oslo.
