These shale villages exist from this Bronze Age, some of them hold cave paintings, Barbarian, Roman and Muslim remains. It was only in the medieval era that the people settled down in the serranas lands. Some villages came about through religious orders, others through pastoral activities, trade In all territory of Portugal there are 27 villages of shale. We´ll have a tour by car + walking by some of the Shale villages in Coimbra Region, where you can see lovely traditional houses and small hotels, beautiful nature and good region food, like famous honey of Lousã, chorizo and wines between others.
You can see also some briges from Roman Empire time, cave paintings from the Bronze Age and many old houses, where people still live and keep tradition of that region. Everything looks like Medieval fairy tale.
