The Douro Valley is traditionally the home of the best port in the world. Over the last few years, it has been crafting a reputation for award-winning table wines. 

On this tour, you’ll get an insider view (and taste) of the Douro’s exciting new wines and the people who create them.

Following a breathtaking drive down the Pinhão Valley, we get down to “wine business” with a tour of Quinta do Bomfim. This is the flagship property of Symington Family Estates, an English-Scottish-Portuguese family that has been producing wine in the Douro for generations. Our informative guided visit will be followed by a picnic lunch overlooking the River Douro and a superb wine tasting.

Then we’ll head to one of our favorite off-the-beaten-path wineries, either Quinta de Napoles or Wine & Soul. Both of these are working wineries with an innovative, pioneering approach to winemaking. 

On our gorgeous drive back to Porto, we will stop for a short visit of the Romanesque town of Amarante, one of the jewel small towns of the Douro region.
