A marvelous city to arrange a vacation in is Obidos.  The town is positioned on a hilltop and engulfed by a wall. Obidos is an absolutely a well-preserved illustration of medieval architecture.  The castle, squares, walls, and even its streets are highly visited sightseer destinations. The city is proud to be home to the famed Praia D'el Rey golf complex which is one of the best golf resorts in Europe.  Each July Óbidos castle hosts a customary Medieval Market.  Over a two-week period the castle and the neighboring town reconstruct the spirit of medieval Europe. 

Beautiful cascading banners and heraldic flags along with hundreds of performers such as jugglers, jesters, wandering minstrels, soldiers and others help to virtually submerge everyone in medieval times.  Guests can shop at the traditional handcrafts fair or enjoy attending the medieval shows, horse exhibitions and a costume parade that makes its way through the streets. Additionally, displays of jousting knights and armed combat can be viewed.   A large number of medieval type meals are served by dozens of "taverns" and booths scattered throughout the market. Drinking from pewter tankards enhances the entire event. 

Even though Obidos is situated inland, Lagoa de Obidos is an enormous lagoon where visitors are able to swim, sunbathe, and rent windsurfing equipment if desired.   Óbidos is a city packed with a lot of activities and great sights to see.  Tourists are drawn to this spectacular city due to all that it offers.  Why not visit Obidos for an unforgettable vacation.
