Information about Puerto Varas

Why not consider Puerto Varas when planning a venture to a new and interesting destination.  Puerto Varas is a city and commune located in the southern Chilean province of Llanquihue, in the Los Lagos Region.   Puerto Varas has a rainy temperate climate. Rainfall occurs throughout the year, and it is this climate that produces the evergreen forest lakes.

The city is well known for its German traditions, food, fish and seafood, the natural environment, casino and 5-star hotels.   It is close to Puerto Montt, situated on the shore of the Llanquihue Lake.   This lake is amongst the biggest natural lakes in South America.    Osorno Volcano and the snowcapped points of Mt. Calbuco and Mt. Tronador are visible from the lakefront.   The city of Puerto Varas is extremely unique because its architecture has strong German influence and traits, making the region resemble a city out of Europe. A few homes that have been acknowledged as cultural legacy are the Sacred Heart Church, the Kuschel House, the German House, the Schwerter House and the Niklitschek House.

The scenery is absolutely breathtaking as a result of ambiance that Lake Llanquihue radiates including the snow-covered mountain peaks.   This region is ideal for tourists to wish to go hiking.

Osorno Volcano has a wonderful ski resort that is situated under one hour from the city.   It is happily reachable by a route almost totally paved.    The view of the scenery from the ski resort is completely amazing.  Puerto Varas makes for a truly fabulous vacation.

The work guide was born spontaneously because through photography workshops that I do (I am a professional photographer), many of my students asked me field trips. I really liked the experience and realized that it was very gratifying to know that others enjoy different places and my description. I can finally say I am an explorer of beautiful places and I like that interesant people can appreciate them sensitively as I do.
