Culture and History tour in Dubrovnik

Herzegovina is country rich in different cultures, traditions but also full of natural wonders.
When you look at the Croatia/Bosnia map, you'll notice that Croatian coast is cut on a small part, some 70 kilometers north from Dubrovnik. The former Republic of Dubrovnik diplomats decided to hand over that part of territory (today city of Neum) to Ottoman Empire in 18th ct. to avoid Venice (their main rival) being their neighbor.
Because of this, on our way to Mostar, we're going to cross the Bosnia & Herzegovinian border twice (please prepare your passports).
Before we reach a Neum, we might stop for an oysters tasting in Malostonski bay, the same oysters were delivered to Franz Joseph – Austrian Emperor table.
After we pass Neum, we're driving through the Neretva fields, most known by tangerine grows. The most easiest way to enter the Herzegovina and avoid high hills was by following the Neretva river canyon and that's the reasong why Dubrovnik trading colonies were active there.
Our first stop after passing the Bosnian border is Pocitelj, a well preserved Turkish Muslim enclave, and a trading outpost of Dubrovnik Republic in Middle Ages.
The guide tell you about Bosnian and Croatian Wars for independence from 1990s and also about current political/religious problems which stress the City of Mostar.
In a Mostar you'll have a time for sightseeing of the Old Bridge, Muslim Turk Mosque and Čaršija (main street). You can taste an original Bosnian specialties (Čevapčići, minced meat in a pie bread with onions) in traditional style refurbished restaurants, try some of Bosnian/Turkish extra sweat cakes (Urmašice, Baklave or Tufahije) and drink their traditional black coffee.
After your free time in Mostar we drive to the source of Buna River (the fastest flowing river at its spring in Europe), where one can visit a Dervish Tekija - preserved house of medieval Muslim Dervishes (prayers).
We leave Buna and continue back to Dubrovnik with a possible stops at your wishes.
