Our journey will start early, as we’ll have to leave Luxor and get to Abydos, which takes several hours by car. But the trip is certainly worth making, because this ancient location is one of the most remarkable sites, which the archeologists of all kinds were stoked about for decades once it was discovered. The large number of well-preserved temples and other structures pose a great interest to specialists and tourists alike. It was established that this place was home to the Cult of Osiris and pilgrimage destination for all Egyptians. 

In about an hour’s drive from Abydos, we’ll find the remote complex of Dendera. This remarkable temple complex sits on the outskirts of the desert and is most notable for its origin, which is rather strange to see in a country that is primarily known for the Ancient Egyptian civilization. This temple complex was built upon the ruins of a much older complex during the Ptolemaic epoch and features strong Roman influences that were prominent at that time. It is considered as one of the best preserved temple complexes in Egypt and features a large area with many statues, pillars, engravings and other peculiar details that have lasted for thousands of years nearly unchanged.
