History is one of the main assets of Egypt, there’s no denying that. However, for most tourists there’s only place that is associated with the ancient history which is the Giza complex. This tour will help you discover the real scale of the cultural heritage left by the ancient civilization, as we’ll visit some of the oldest and most remarkable complexes located near the capital. It is a perfect package for those who have already explored the Giza Necropolis and the numerous sites surrounding Luxor, and who wants to see what other remarkable sites the country has to offer.

Our first destination is the Necropolis of Saqqara. This vast area has served as the burial ground for noble families for centuries during which the nearby city of Memphis served as the very first  capital of the Kingdom. Here is the place where the oldest of all Egyptian pyramids, and one of the earliest structures of this kind in the world is located – the Stepped Pyramid of Djoser. Constructed around 4,700 years ago, it is at least a hundred years older than the Great Pyramid of Khufu, which is dated as the oldest in Giza.

After visiting the ancient burial ground, we’ll head to the city it once served – Memphis. These days there are many remains of ancient buildings and structures, some of which are decently preserved while the others ruined badly. One of the highlights in Memphis is the statue of Ramses the Great.

Our final stop for the day will be the pyramid complex in Dashur. This is where king Sneferu, father of Khufu, built his remarkable tombstones. His first attempt can be seen in the peculiar Bent Pyramid, which shows evidence of engineering errors. However, his second attempt resulted in the magnificent Red Pyramid, which was the first true pyramid in the world. After exploring the area for some time and visiting its main highlights we’ll enter our van and head back to Luxor.
