There are many different sides to Cairo, each with its long history and traditions. With this tour I invite you to discover the Islamic Cairo and its numerous historic sites, some of which date back to the earliest period of Islam. We’ll see the oldest mosques in the region and other notable structures, which represent classic Arab architecture and culture from different periods. It is a full day trip, so prepare yourself for exploring the fascinating history of Islam in Cairo.

Right after enjoying the breakfast you’ll be taken to the first of the many sites we’ll visit during the tour. The Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan, built during the 14th century without a single idle day during its construction, is considered as one of the most picturesque and remarkable mosques in the region. 

Opposite to the older mosque stands the Al-Rifa'i Mosque, which was constructed five centuries later with a goal to compliment the older building and reflect its glory in a new way. It was constructed during the 19th century wave of city renovation and is truly a remarkable place to behold the classic Islamic approach to architecture.

Right around the corner you’ll see the magnificent Saladin Citadel (Cairo Citadel), which is considered as the central point of Islamic Cairo. Built over 8 centuries ago, it still inspires the feelings of security and grandeur. This is where some of the oldest mosques can be found, and we’ll enter some of them during our walk through the Citadel. 

And how can a private guide in Cairo avoid one of the oldest bazaars in the country and not take you to the famous Khan El-Khalili Market? This picturesque complex is both fascinating to explore and abundant with different wares and gifts that you’ll surely want to take home with you as a reminder of your great time in Egypt.
