This tour drives you to explore rural France and its nature marvels: The Ardeche river canyon, meanders and natural bridge. The Orgnac cave with it's 50m high ceiling, a beautiful waterfall and its potholes, the medieval village of Aigueze. Highlights: The 24 kilometers road along the 300 meter deep Ardèche river Canyon and the Pont-d'Arc natural Bridge. Orgnac Cave visit. The natural Sautadet and it's potholes carved in limestone. This tour is dedicated to those willing to catch a chance to explore rural France and its nature marvels. During this full day tour you will escape from the crowd of the city and get a bite of French culture in your own language. Comfortably seated in an air-conditioned 8+1 seats minibus your private diver will comment local habits and traditions and relate major historical facts. He might even tell you about local legends… You will be driven along the 24 kilometers Canyon of the Ardèche river and its meander and learn more about this amazing geological formations. The 300 meter deep canyon or the famous natural arch of the Pont d’Arc will have no more secrets for you.
On several opportunities you will hold on to the railings of the belvederes to pictures these astonishing views. The Ardèche area is one of the richest French regions in terms of archaeological sites. Here, some 35000 years ago the world oldest wall painting were drawn and rediscovered in 1994. We will pass by the Chauvet cave site (closed to the public) and currently applying to be registered on the UNESCO heritage list. On the way we will stop by the small medieval village of Aigueze, classified as one of the “French nicest village”. Perched high and overlooking the Ardèche river it’s XI century donjon marks the end of the gorges. You shall also be allowed a small wonder (accessible to anyone) near the Sautadet beautiful Waterfall and its potholes will be an introduction to what nature can do…
The tour includes a visit of the Orgnac cave and it’s amazing stalagmites and stalactites formations. It is the largest French touristic cave, registered as “Grand Site de France” (as the Mont St Michel). NOTE: as The Orgnac cave site is closed from November 15th till February 1st during that period the itinerary passes by some Neolithic Dolmen.
