The UNESCO World Heritage site of Chogha-Zanbil is the best-preserved ziggurat (stepped temple pyramid) in the world. It was built around 1250 BC by the king of Elam in honor of their great god.
In Susa, you will discover fascinating ancient landmarks. Here you can visit the Chogha-Zanbil ziggurat, the Achaemenid Palace, the Susa Museum and Castle, the Daniel Temple, as well as the ancient site of Haft-Tappeh, dating back to 1500 BC. This excursion can be arranged as either a half-day or a full-day trip.
In Shushtar, another UNESCO World Heritage site awaits you — unique hydraulic structures over 2,000 years old. These include watermills, dams, bridges, and tunnels. A walk through the old town will take you to the traditional bazaar, ancient houses, and the historic castle.
The journey continues in the land of the Bakhtiari people, on the picturesque slopes of the Zagros Mountains. Here you will explore ancient Elamite sanctuaries such as the Tarisha Temple and the Kool-Farah complex, while also experiencing the lifestyle of nomads and villagers in Izeh, Baghmalek, and Haftguel.
