This one day tour will take you on a quest for medieval history, from the old city center of Brasov to the monumental Rupea fortress, one of the largest in Transylvania.

The tour is available from Monday to Sunday. The price includes transportation, guide fees and entry fees.

We leave early morning from your hotel in Bucharest. Our first stop is Brasov where we take a walking tour of the old city center. After lunch we drive to nearby Rupea to visit one of the largest fortresses in Romania.

Brasov

One of the oldest cities in Romania and a key commercial point since the medieval ages between Transylvania and the Balkans, Brasov has one of the finest old city centers in the country. Monuments that date even from the 13th century attest the Saxon heritage of Brasov, once a fortress-city that closed in front of enemy attacks. Among the attractions we’ll see are the Black Church, the Town Square, the White Tower, the Black Tower, the fortification system, Sforii Street and many more centuries old sites.

The fortress of Rupea

One of the most imposing and best-conserved fortresses in Transylvania, Rupea was first mentioned in 1324. Located on the scenic road between Brasov and Sighisoara, the fortress of Rupea amazes through its imposing dimensions and many centuries of history. The hill fortress extends on almost 11 hectares and is a clear testimony of the troubled medieval era when local communities would often seek protection here for long periods of time in front of enemy attacks.
