The Atlas Mountains serve as a border between the arid Sahara and the fertile soils of North Africa. Throughout the history of this region different cultures have settled below the peaks of the Atlas to enjoy a stable and fruitful existence. With this two-day trip you will explore the wonderful cultural heritage found among the highest mountains and will get to see different sites.

Day 1: The first place and the main attraction you will explore during this day will be the wonderful city of Dougga. Established by Numidians long before the Romans took over Carthage, this city provides a wonderful mix of landmarks belonging both to the Berbers and the Roman Empire. It is considered as the best preserved town of this kind in this region of the globe and was inscribed as a UNESCO Heritage Site. You will see the local Capitol and various buildings before traveling to El Kef for your overnight stay.

Day 2: The first half of the day will be spent in El Kef, which features a wonderful mix of cultures and historic sites. The ancient Numidian city features Roman, Muslim, Christian and Jewish landmarks scattered all around it, and we’ll visit some of the most peculiar of them. Then we will drive to the Jugurtha Mountain that served as a fortress for King Jugurtha when he was fighting with the Rome. You will learn a lot of interesting details about this place and admire the picturesque landscapes surrounding the site before heading back to Tunis where the tour ends.
