This is an ideal trip for those who want to try something exotic and something else than that they are used to.

First, we will stop in Medjugorje:  Since 1981, in this small village in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Blessed Virgin Mary has been appearing and giving messages to the world.

In Her own words, She tells us, "I have come to tell the world that God exists. He is the fullness of life, and to enjoy this fullness and peace, you must return to God". The following is an account of the beginning of the Apparitions.

On the 24th June 1981, on the hill known as Podbrdo (Apparition Hill) six children, Ivanka Ivankovic, Mirjana Dragicevic, Vicka Ivankovic, Ivan Dragicevic, Ivan Ivankovic, and Milka Pavlovic saw a beautiful young woman carrying a little child in her arms. They were frightened at what they saw and did not come closer, even though the Woman beckoned them closer. . . .

They knew this Woman was Our Lady. . .

Continuing for Mostar that for centuries has been a place where two different cultures meet: the western and the eastern one, as well as two different religions: Christianity and Islam. This is why you can see an interesting connection and mixture of civilization in the architecture, the customs, and the life of the people of this old town, located on the river Neretva.

The bridge on the river, which gave this town the name, the bazaar, the mosques, and a walk through Mostar will help you to feel the magic of the orient! Driving from Split we'll have a chance to cross the border between Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina where the city of Mostar is situated. It is thanks to the river Neretva that Mostar was able to develop as a city in the desert-like landscape of Herzegovina. Neretva’s size turned Mostar very early into a trading center of the region. Mostar got its name after that same Bridge, or more precisely after the bridge keepers. They used to guard the bridge and were called “Mostari”, thereby the city got its name. Mostar’s population in 2003 was 105,448. With its hot summers and mild winters, Mostar is also one of Europe’s sunniest cities.

What makes this city known is its famous bridge. The Old Bridge was built by the Ottoman empire in 1565. It was the great architect Mimar Hajrudin who had succeeded with the impossible mission to cross the Neretva River with a single span stone bridge. A unique place with a unique bridge. Mostar is like a painting, and the bridge is the star. Arching over the green water, it forms the center of the old town and the focal point for every restaurant, vista, and patio in the vicinity. The Old Bridge, the Koski Mehmed Pasa Mosque, and the spectacular view from its Minaret will not be the only things you'll be surprised with... The eventful bazaar, Bosnian cuisine, and the local cordiality will make an unforgettable journey...
