Delphi is a great place to explore with very rich history and mythic past. Nowadays it is both a modern town and a place of historical and archeological significance. According to the Greek mythology this town was the place where you could find the Delphic oracle, which was the most important oracle in the whole Greek world. We will start our private tour of Athens by going north and crossing the countryside.

We will pass through Thebes and kilometers of pure-white cotton fields. If you believe in Greek mythology, you should know that Hercules, legendary mythological hero, was born here. As a professional private guide in Athens, I would definitely advice you to take a look at the Krias spring in Levadia. According to the myth the mysterious oracle lived here. We will continue our journey and then stop for a break at a traditional Greek tavern, where you will be able to taste the famous homemade tiropita with yoghurt and honey.

We will proceed to the little village Arahova, which is well-know for its incomparable handmade rugs and carpets. Lately this village has become popular among the skiers. And finally we will arrive in Delphi. The ancient Greeks believed that it was the very centre of the universe. There are lots of great places to visit: the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios, Castalia spring, the famous sanctuary of Athena Pronaia.
