You will discover this city of Alicante´s Province: Elche accompanied by an expert guide Elche founded by the Iberians, known as Ilici, currently has about 231,000 inhabitants. It is one of the few cities that has two World Heritage Sites: The Palm garden and The Mystery Play. Discover the “Huerto del Cura” (Priest’s Garden), this National Artistic Garden covers an area of 12,000 m2 with its spectacular Real Palm Tree called “Sisi” like the empress.

A splendid collections of palms and cacti from all corners of the world, with many varieties which have been adapted to our climate, may also be enjoyed. In addition to the palm trees, many other Spanish Mediterranean plants, such as lemon, orange, pomegranate, carob and jujube trees are cultivated in the Huerto del Cura We will also enjoy the visit of the Basilica of Saint Mary where the second World Heritage of this city is held in August: the Mistery Play.

The UNESCO created a new category for Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. And we are proud because the Mystery play known as "El Misteri" or "Festa d'Elx", was the first Spanish traditional celebration which was included in this new list.
