Information about Santiago
When visiting Chile it's nearly impossible to avoid visiting its capital, Santiago, because of all the beautiful sites and countless things the country has to offer this city is certainly one of the most attractive and peculiar. Located in the abundant and fertile central part of the country, in just a few hours’ drive both from the Pacific Ocean and the Appalachian Mountains, the capital boasts a broad range of scenic locations that make Santiago such a nice place to stay. But being surrounded by numerous vineyards and farms is certainly not the main trait of this large modern city.
Founded nearly five centuries ago by Spanish conquistadors, today's Santiago is a very dynamic and active city with several universities, countless shops, cafes, markets, libraries and a large restaurant and theater scene, which is regarded as one of the most prominent in the Southern America.
The marvelous mix of different architectural styles common to the colonial period and the large number of historic sites make this city very interesting to explore for anyone fascinated by culture, history and architecture. And if you’re looking for dynamic night-life and other modern city distractions, Santiago will certainly leave you impressed with what it has to offer!

(Member Since 2008) Excursions/tous in the following cities: Santiago, Valparaiso Languages: English, SpanishHello, dear friends! First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is John Gottlieb and I work as a private guide in Santiago. I am always delighted to share my experience and knowledge with people interested in the wonders of my motherland. I was born in the capital of Chile, and in my opinion there is no such city as Santiago. Without any doubt it is unique. Most people who have been there note that its main peculiarity is the surprising mixture of old and modern. And it is true indeed. But it is not the only one characteristic of the city, and it will be my pleasure to help you discover other ones. I had an opportunity to spend several years in the USA and then stayed in England for more than five years.

Latest Tourist Opinion about Travel to Chile:
Hector and his associates are top notch! I contacted him last minute.... like the day before, last minute..... to give my family of 6 a full day tour of Santiago. Hector was prompt in responding, his English is great, and was very accommodating! Literally minutes before we boarded the plane I requested a change (for us to be picked up at the airport, not the hotel). We were met promptly and the van was in pristine condition! We spent the entire day trekking all over Santiago! You wont be disappointed!
