Tour: UNESCO Island Hvar - exploring one of 10 most beautiful islands in the world

Hvar is rightfully considered as one of the most picturesque islands in the world, along with such popular destinations as Bora Bora, Kauai, Santorini and others. Its magnificent nature enriched with important historical sites make Hvar one of the most frequently visited Croatian islands. 

This tour lasts for an entire day so get ready to enjoy the beauties of Hvar! I will pick you up in Split and we’ll take the ferry to Hvar. Or I can pick you up in any location of Hvar, if you’ll arrive to the island by yourself. 

There are several settlements on the island, and we’ll visit three of the most interesting ones. The ancient Stari Grad was established by the Greeks almost three millennia ago, and you’ll see a lot of spots telling the age of this town. The town of Vrboska, located at a fjord, creates a great atmosphere when admiring the sea. And of course, the city of Hvar will offer many historic attractions and place to enjoy local cuisine. 

After visiting the city’s main square and the cathedral we’ll take it uphill to visit the fortress, which delivers an astonishing view over the entire island. Once you will take the time to look at Hvar, you’ll understand why the Greeks have decided to set up their colony here, and why numerous states were fighting for this attractive spot in the Adriatic Sea for centuries. 

Another interesting attraction on this island will be particularly interesting to those who love exploring local cuisine. There are many traditional “konoba” restaurants that deliver a large variety of local preparations, mostly based on seafood. Besides, the island is where some of the best Croatian wines are produced. So make sure to give them a try – you won’t be disappointed.

Minivan for 4-6 persons (guide meets you in Split, but minivan is waiting at the island): 360 E + ferry for guide and passengers (ferry ticket is around 12 - 13 E per person return). If you want to be picked up with a minivan in Split and take it on the ferry and back, it would be extra 60-80 Euros, depending on the season

With your car (guide service only): 150 Euros + ferry for guide and passengers (ferry ticket is around 12 - 13 E per person return)
